Keningau: Police arrested two men, including a 17-year-old boy,
and confiscated a bakakuk and a machete in separate drunken incidents
here, recently.
Acting on a tip-off, police made the first on a 28-year-old local fisherman at the Keningau Hospital car park, on May 6.
"The man had had an argument with his girlfriend and was seen holding a
bakakuk before police nabbed him. He was drunk at that time," District
Police Chief DSP Zahari Mohamed said.
On the same day, police with help from the public apprehended a
17-year-old boy for assaulting another student with a machete at Giat
Mara Centre here.
"The suspect was a former trainee in the centre and he had been
drinking before going to the centre to meet with the management.
"However, the victim approached the suspect and had asked him to leave
the premises considering his unstable condition. Instead the suspect
went to his car and returned with a machete," Zahari said.
The suspect assaulted the victim but was apprehended by other students
before handing him over to police. The victim sustained minor injures
on his hand and face.
In another case, a 38-year-old husband was arrested for pouring hot water and for beating his wife, on May 5.
Zahari said, the man returned home after a drinking session and had
asked his wife to cook instant noodles for him. He then became
aggressive and poured the hot water and beat her up when she took a
long time to cook.
Another two drunken men were arrested the same day after causing
disturbance by yelling and upsetting peace around Kg Bingkor and a
supermarket in the town, he said.
